28th March 2019
Halls Head Primary School had a very special night for children and families of our school community. On Tuesday 26th March had the opportunity to view the night sky at our “Stargazing at School” evening.
This wonderful opportunity was presented by the Senior Manager of Gravity Discovery Centre (GDC) Gin Gin Observatory, Richard Tonello. The GDC is an astronomical observatory dedicated to the exploration and science of the night sky and watch the motion of the planets.
Our “Stargazing at School” evening began with a 30 minute Astronomy presentation by Richard, followed by a laser light guided tour of the constellations, satellites and space stations on the lawn, and then finally, the opportunity to view a variety of stars in the night sky using one of six telescopes.
All participating children received “Stargazing” badges to wear on the night, thanks to our Science Teacher Mrs Staples.
The P&C provided nibbles “picnic style” for families to enjoy on the lawn prior to the event beginning. This was the first of many fundraisers for the new 2019 P&C committee. If you wish to join this vibrant group get in contact with the school office for further details. The next P&C meeting will be held at the school in room 10 on 3rd April from 8:40am.
